Don't skip the salt and pepper shrimp (served with garlic butter on the side as suggested by the server), or the super crispy chicken wings (with your choice of sauce, we chose lemongrass). The grilled pork rolls were a win, but I'd leave the tofu bun next time and probably go for pho instead. Prices weren't cheap but were absolutely fair for the fresh, abundant portions. Would absolutely return!
After reading about Tan Dinh in the New York Times of all places. It was an article about the hidden gems of New Orleans. I knew that we had to give it a try. So, we headed to Gretna on the Westbank to dine Vietnamese style. Upon arriving, I could tell it was going to be good, there were all the signs of a good Vietnamese restaurant. The pungent smell of fish sauce, long row a table’s pushed together with a large family dining. Good enough for the whole family. As I watched the kids at the big table play air drums with their chop sticks, I looked over the menu items. The menu is vast, but I found it was translated well. We started off with some Shrimp Spring Rolls and Chicken Wings with a sweet chili sauce covering them. Both were exceptional and I probably could have taken a couple dozen of those wings home with me. That would have been a meal to itself. But we were here to try more than just the wings. I ordered a Bun Bowl of shrimp and pork with vegetables and vermicelli noodles. Charla ordered the short ribs. Both were very large and easily shareable between a few people. The food was delicious, and portions were large. If you have never tried Vietnamese food this would be the place to go. The menu is well done in English and Vietnamese and the waitress was very knowledgeable. So come hungry because you get a lot of food. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Place is absolutely amazing - my wife and I visited from NYC and came back for seconds before we flew out of town.
The staff is friendly and the frog legs were the best we’ve ever had. The Pho was some of the best we’ve ever had in America, if not the best.
Def worth the visit!!!!!!
[Edit] I came back to review the Bun Bo Hue which was the best I’ve had in America hands down and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!
Very friendly and helpful staffs. Excellent Food. The taste can satisfy almost everyone.
Everything was delicious! Great portion sizes and the prices were fair. I love how everything you need is right on the table and take out boxes were available around the seating areas. SO GOOD!
I loved the food and employees. It was a laid back semi self serve environment. The employees were welcoming and helpful. The food was really fresh and flavorful. We ordered an appetizer, soup and entree and it was enough to share. If you’re more on the hungry side you probably want your own and it’s so good you may just want more. The environment was clean and full of good vibes.
One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants on the westbank! I always order their eggrolls and pho dac biet, but they offer more dishes than just those! Last time I went, it seems like they have condensed their menu a little bit, but there were still lots of options available. Their spring rolls, rice plates, and vermicelli bowls are also good!! Their staff and service are great too!
We came here after my sons soccer game with a large party. We called ahead and were seated promptly. They were exceptionally busy! Our server Caiden was on point with our drink and food orders. Food and drinks came out quickly. I had Pho and it was delicious! Quality food items were used in all the food we ordered with authentic flavors. This place is a must do for Vietnamese and pho!
